What is it?

The Browns Lane development is transforming the former Bootle High School site into a vibrant new neighbourhood, delivering a total of 137 affordable homes for local people across two phases.

Phase one has already received planning permission and will deliver 71 homes through a mix of affordable rent and Rent to Buy properties. Phase two proposes a further 66 homes for affordable rent and homeownership opportunities.

Providing a mix of two, three and four-bedroom homes designed to meet local housing need, helping more individuals and families access high-quality, affordable housing within their local community.

Transformation

The development will transform a long-term vacant brownfield site, bringing it back into use helping to meet the need for local family housing.

Benefits

By increasing the supply of affordable housing, the development will support local housing need, provide routes into homeownership and contribute to the ongoing regeneration of Netherton.

As part of the planning process, Sefton Council will continue to assess the impact of the development on local infrastructure and services to ensure they can meet demand and support both existing and future residents.
